My Favorite Plant Shop, Midnight Blossom

The sun came back in Seattle again. My husband and I went for drive and ended up in Ballard, one of many cool districts in Seattle. We stopped by my favorite plant shop named 'Midnight Blossom' before having lunch. We started to visit this cool shop to find succulents, air plants, and foliage from time to time after recommended by word-of-mouth about a year ago. They have an Etsy shop known as 'MIDNIGHTinSEATTLE' and sell part of their shop items too:-)

The shop is run by a very sweet couple, Amoreena and Matt Herbage. (Their last name looks like meant-to-be a plant shop owner, isn't it?) Their beautifully designed nature-inspired shop interior makes me want to stay there forever! Their shop itself is really a piece of art, made of their love. When I asked how to take care of plants, Amoreena took time to explain about each plant I was to purchase.  They are an easygoing couple and the time can easily pass as one conversation flows to the next. Even though they are busy with handling orders, they sincerely listened to us and kept smiling.

Here are the pictures of this sweet couple and their lovely shop.

Their terrariums are all beautifully made, and their unique decorating items such as specimen of insects, driftwood pieces, unique shells and stones brought back from California, Marimo (Japanese moss balls), wedding arrangements, and Matt's hand-made wood shadowbox make their shop more distinctive than most of places to get green decorations for home. No wonder they are 5-star rated on Yelp.

These are what we purchased this time :)

Thank you very much, Amoreena and Matt, and we will come back again!

Air Plant Babies

I love air plants. I put tillandsia here and there in our living room and bathroom. They are very easy to take care and complete my nature-themed decorating.

Here are some of them.

.
The other day I took them out to water, and found out I have two "expecting" air plants.
One of them has been very fertile and she already gave birth two pups, but another one was very unexpected for me to happen just because there has been no sign at all. It was a great surprise for me when I saw it.

This is it. The tiny one sticking to the bottom. Isn't it cute?

And this is the fertile one with two kids and another two more (!) expected.

Once they grow up enough on their moms, it is time for them to be separated from the moms, and be part of my decors:-)

Iced Tea Making

My husband and I love iced tea. Especially in summer time, we drink it a lot with a slice of lime.

Anyway,  of all tea choices at a grocery store, what I always choose is 'Red Rose' Black Tea. Not only because of their taste but because of their little gift comes with the box. Every time I get a new box, I am excited about seeing what's inside this time. I recently opened a new box, so let me show the one I got :-D

This is the package.

One of my "collection" in my terrarium. (the pink Easter bunny)

When I use five of their teabags to 1.7 liters of water and add 90 cc of sugar, the taste becomes just right for us!

Wanelo is Fun!

Do you know Wanelo? This is a cool site where you post to show items you like from any online shops or post your product to introduce your creation. Also you can purchase if you want to own it. I recently signed up as 'blesshue' and posted some of my creations from my Zazzle shop to Wanelo. As I post, I see alerts right after somebody saves, puts on their wishlist, or follows. Thank you so much for choosing my creations. It is so exciting and it was hard for me to stop myself  going for a while, I have almost forgotten about the day surgery I had today :-))  My husband went, 'Aren't you supposed to be resting now?' I really want to keep going now, but maybe I should listen to him and give myself a rest for today.

Super sunny sunday

So today, on sunday,
My husband made us this tasty french toast for branch with Macrina Bakery's Raisin Brioche. Macrina is a popular bakery shop in Belltown, and they make everything just rightly tasty, meaning not too sweet, not too salty, no excessiveness on flavors. We love their quiches and pastries. Our recent favorite is the Raisin Brioche. It maybe tastes like cinnamon rolls without sugar icing. We went to buy one loaf first and a server guy there recommended us making french toast with it, so we ended up purchasing one more so we can enjoy as is and as french toast! Yes, the french toast was really good.

This year's first sunny weekend in Seattle

This weekend was sunshined out! I love the summer in Seattle so much. It is incomperable to Tokyo's. No mosquitos and no humidity. Just comfortably sunny. When the sun starts to dominate the sk,y in Seattle after the series of cloudy or rainy days, people stay out. I love to see people being all smiley in the sun.

So on saturday,
as soon as getting up, my husband and I hit a road and drove around in Seattle. We stopped by this fish and chips shop in Capitol Hill named 'Pike Street Fish Fry'. Their chips are phenomenal. The batter is crispy and fish is fresh and soft. We like to eat them with their lemon aioli. On top of that, you can not get enouth of  their fried lemon once you have it.
